COVID Test Results (August 2022)
To some degree, many Christians are responsible for the death in their families, communities, and country. Evil is being advanced every day. What are you doing about it? Too many Christians are doing nothing. Shameful! Grow, glow, and go! (Read “They did not need to die!”) |
So earlier this week I tested positive again, yet we are completely asymptomatic. (Sigh) The doctor said the PCR test ”” the sole Japanese requirement and most strict ”” can detect COVID for up to thirty days. For us, it’s been just over four weeks since we believe we first contracted it, so I’m believing that next Monday we’ll be cleared.
Sandy and I have our moments and we still wrestle with anxiety to get back home — to the cats (Lol) and to work. So, we embrace what the Apostle Paul shared. “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Php 4:11-13)
In the meantime, although we’ve unplugged from ministry in Japan, we simply cannot avoid meeting needs of hurting people — family and strangers. It’s what we do. I promise you, the masses here in the States are in some form of pain and they absolutely need Christ. He is the only solution to counter all the pain, death, and confusion.
Here are just a few ministry encounters that we’ve had:
▪ Used Car Salesman: I asked how he ended up selling cars. He said COVID wrecked his $250k income, but even before that he knew he was called to teach the Word of God and make disciples. He began crying as he confessed this to us. Sandy and I prayed with him right there on the car lot and through tears he repented to the Lord.
▪ Steakhouse: We finished our meal and I asked our server, “When’s the last time you’ve been to Church?” She tried that old “me and God have an understanding” baloney. I basically explained how she’s been literally neglecting God. “How would you describe a relationship with your fiancé if you only visited him twice a year – Easter and Christmas?” She said, “Neglected.” She went on to say that she’s never thought about it like that before. ▪ Denny’s: Our server was pleasant but she was carrying some unseen weight. I asked, “Are you a Christian?” She said yes, so I asked, “When’s the last time you’ve been to Church?” She gave that some thought but couldn’t recall, so I jokingly asked, “Why do you hate God?” She laughed and said no, that’s not it. I sensed that she was fragile and was about to come apart, so I told her, “God loves you. God wanted you to know that you are on His radar. You’ve always been on His radar. And He’s still waiting for you.” She teared up and beamed with the encouragement.
▪ NC: Sandy and I met with a wife whose husband was back in Okinawa finishing up his deployment. We took time to explain to her how he’s changed after being discipled and how to negotiate those changes. We also gave some clarification as to how to proceed with the ministry calling on his life.
▪ NC: Spent time with a young bride whose husband has been is overtly controlling and manipulative.
▪ CA: Crash course pre-marital counseling with a young man. Did a quick and very revealing assessment of what type of Christian he really is. No good at all. He acknowledged that he was woefully lacking. Asked, “What is your job as a husband?” Typical answer, “I am the spiritual leader.” I asked him, “How can you lead in spiritual, godly things when you aren’t going anywhere spiritually? Where can you take her and lead her when you don’t even know Christ?” (Not finished with him.) I asked if they had premarital sex. Yes. I explained the sin in their foundation. (Read “Divorce is predictable!” https://zcdc.wordpress.com/2022/06/02/divorce-is-predictable/) I shared how to remove that sin and replace it with godliness. He humbly received it all.
▪ So many more conversations like this.
(Forgive me, but I have to take a moment and address something. Many of my critics have said that my direct and confrontational style is too aggressive and offensive and wouldn’t work in the US because people would eat me alive. This is the rationale they deceive themselves with to avoid openly sharing Christ. My critics walk in great fear! I wholeheartedly reject their lie, and I beg to differ! Something in my spirit-man rises up and shouts, “Where are these uncircumcised Philistines, or any one for that matter, who can defy the armies of the living God?!!”)
So back to my point. Instead of worrying about our situation, we’re praying and asking the Lord how to best spend this extra time here. What godly things can we do today? My buddy Matt told me just this morning, “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Mt 6:31-34)
So we choose to minister wherever and whenever we can. Love compels me to bluntly give people Christ and helpful information. I tell them, “What you do with that information (discipleship) is up to you. But whatever you do with that information is a direct reflection of who you really are.” Bottom line is, “The degree to which you seek Christ, is the degree to which He will reveal Himself to you and change your life. Your call.”
Anyway, pray for us to get back to Okinawa because I am loaded for bear! (Lol!)

a. For reinstatement of Brig ministries (Wednesday night Bible Study and Friday morning Sexual Integrity & Restoration (SIR) classes. Pray for the dissolution of confusion and that ungodly strongholds be broken over the Brig.
It’s been almost one year since all the confusion. When I get back to Okinawa, I plan on following up with the Brig, to see who the current Supervisors are. For over twenty-one years, I’ve had outstanding relationship with every Brig Commanding Officer. My hope is that the crew from last year have finally been reassigned.
b. Pray for our leaders who are standing in the gap while Sandy and I take a break. Pray for their strength in the Lord. We are also still praying for mature, qualified families and Permanent Personnel to co-labor with us in this northern-most, remote area of Okinawa. Henoko/Schwab outreach carries a constant rebuilding nature due its high turnover rate and operational tempo. We continue to graduate souls as they finish their time here, so we literally have to labor and rebuild a new congregation every six months. Pray for our strength, wisdom, and resources as we continuously gather more souls.

Beloved, there’s strength in numbers. Please join me and Sandy in praying for negative tests soon, so we can get back to Japan.
I am pretty confident that we’ll be cleared soon, because after a month off, I’ve literally started dreaming prophetically again. This is typically how God prepares me for ministry, so I know He’s setting me up for His works.
I dream sermons. All night while sleeping, I receive visions and dreams of teaching and preaching the oracles of God to different people and different venues. Often, I’m preaching things that I didn’t know and have never taught before. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, God reveals to me His mysteries, gives me fresh revelation, advanced principles, and new illustrations. When I wake up I feel like I’ve been preaching and ministering for 6-8 hours. It’s not taxing at all, but this is a major way the Lord speaks to me.
Sandy and I are not normal where the things of God are concerned. Normal is boring, and God is neither normal or boring! We confront. We provoke. We expose. We immerse. And we make disciples. Every week I am humbled at the Kingdom fruit we harvest.
We need your help. Being full-time missionaries in Japan is very expensive and quite taxing. Every six months, to a large degree our Church is emptied as we graduate another class of UDP (6-month deployment). Then, we literally have to rebuild and gather new members and do the process again. Not many ministries can do what we do, nor do they want that challenge. Your monetary gifts and contributions enable us to do this and keep going.
